Hi All,

Mill performed ET for 1.5" Sch160 Smls Pipe A333 Gr.6.
Is ET acceptable in lieu of hydrotest? if yes, is there any limitation criteria?
Thanks.

Regards,

I have now looked at ASTM A 333 and see that eddy current testing is permitted as an alternative to hydrostatic testing under this standard. It goes to show – if all else fails read the specification!

No. Eddy current test is a surface inspection technique – technically an alternative to MPI.
