REGARDING ISSUE IN MONEL 400 TUBE TO TUBESHEET JOINT WELDING

Dear All, 

       We are facing cracking  of tube ends , dis-bonding between tube base material and filler material during welding in Monel 400 Tube to Tubesheet Joints. Refer attached photographs.

Tube MOC: SB-163 UNS-N04400; 25.0 mm OD x 2.0 mm thk

Tube sheet MOC: SA-336M Gr F304L + SB-127 UNS-N04400 (48 + 10 mm thick clad by Explosion Bonding)

Welding: ERNiCu-7 GTAW filler size 2.0mm  with Argon shielding gas.

Kindly share the reason for such cracking, disbonding  and Suggest Corrective and preventive actions regarding this issue.

Hi

Monel T/Tsht jt welding needs practice to welder for manovering the arc and welding direction

7 o clock to 2 o'clock 6 o clock to 10 o clock  3  to to 11 and.9 to1

As monel weld pool is sluggish hence Groove angle should be shallow with 35 to 40 degree
Increase the current with arc direction should be directed toward tube sht side and not on tube

Try with 1.6dia wire

Try and practice
