Hello

I have a problem of crack in fillet weld between Inconel (ASTM B446 UNS N06625, 50 mm) and super-duplex steel (ASTM A182 F55, 35 mm).

The crack is always in root pass. It seems to be hot-cracking. The welding process is the GTAW and the consumable use is an Inconel.

Many solutions were implemented to avoid crack:

1) First trial was perform with an ER NiCrMo 13 consumable

2) Second trial was perform with an ER NiCrMo 3 consumable

3) For Third trial, the welding sequence was change, the root pass was perform by alternate quarter to minimize the strength in the weld during the cooling

The dilution was controlled, the min preheat temperature was 60° and the max inter-pass temperature was 150°C.

Could you help me to solve this problem?

Have you tried to do the root pass with SMAW ENiCrMo3 electrode?
