Full Penetration(FP) Welding using SAW Process without -gouging

Appl Code  AWS D1.1

Weld Process - SAW in Flat and Horizontal Positions.

Item to be welded- T-Bar / I-Girders with thk range from 30mm and 50mm x Group II- EH36 Mat.

I was told it is possible to achieve FP without back-gouging


Is it possible? Pls guide me in qualifying PQRs with suitable welding consumables.
