Dear Sir,

As we all of us known too and always talking about mild steel and carbon steel material.

As I know that, carbon percentage makes a difference to differentiate carbon steel and mild steel. As mild steel has low carbon percentage as compared to carbon steel.

But I want to know that as carbon steel comes in IS2062 category, then mild steel has to be study by which code?

Or
if we say IS 2062 for mild steel plates, then we can concluded that grade C is mild steel while grade A is carbon steel. Is it right.

Basically, I want to know, above which carbon % , material is said to be carbon steel and below which mentioned as mild steel.
In which code or standard it is mentioned?

Regards
Prasad

Dear sir,

This query with reference to trailing mail, which is for discussion mainly and also for knowledge sharing.

We all, always talking about M.S. plate and C.S. plate, like that what exactly it is?

Request all experts to give response to it.

CS is common which has got Low Carbon steel, Mild carbon steel, Medium carbon steel and high carbon steel.

It is based on %C
Low CS-----0.15max
MS---------- >0.15 to 0.35
Medium------>0.35 to 0.60
High ----------->0.60 to 1.00

Carbon steel is devided into three parts - low , medium , high .
every mild steel is carbon steel but every carbon steel is not mild steel.
mild steel is low carbon steel.
P NO for mild steel is P1.
smaw consumable - e6013 and e7018.
saw - em12k .. el8..eh14
gtaw - er70sx
fcaw- e71t1
basically % of carbon further devides carbon steel into 3 categories
