Dear Experts,

What is the acceptable weld bead reinforcement and allowable penetration in the GMAW welding process? Any specific code for structural welding. Please suggest.

Joint design- Fillet Type
Plate thickness- 8mm to 32mm
Material Grade- IS2062 E350C

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Hi,
Please follow ISO 5817 for weld quality levels. However this has to be documented in your or end user SOP.

For a Fillet weld, it is based on the Throat size and Leg size and the required profile as convex or concave as Applicable

Dear Friend,

If you are following AWS D1.1 for structural steel inspection , Just Refer the table 8.1 of 2020 Edition. There they have mentioned weld profile shall be in conformance with clause 7.23. Hope that clause can guide you.

With Regards,
