Dear All,
Can we use S355J2+N plate instead of ASTM A36 plate for pipe support fabrication. In my opinion, S355J2+N is higher grade steel but will there be any problem with client acceptance ?
Your immediate response shall be highly appreciated. Thanks

Dear ,

Generally S 355J2 is not getting accepted, If available you  go with s275 grade,as listed in ASME 9, P1G1.

Dear Sir,

Very well you can use S355 J2 instead of A36. But the price difference would be more and same time written confirmation shall be obtained from the client.

Thanking You.

S355J2 material is not assigned with any P or Group nos, so in this case you cannot use the same, please advice what is your pipe material,  however in any case if you would like to use S355J2 you will have to qualify welding procedure as this is unassigned material. for A36 it is Pno-1 & Group no-1 which you can use without any issue.

Thanks & Regards,
Anthony.

Hi

You can use S355J2+N instead of A 36 unless like anthony specified, welding requirements because these materials are not in the assigned list .

Please pay attention on this ...However Client may exempt .
