Dear All,

As material test cerificate  of welding consumables does not specify validity period for welding consumable, then what is the thumb rule to consider it.

I had checked ESAB Handbook ,it states that max 3 years for electrode if stored as per their guidelines but nowhere i had found information regarding max storage time for filler wire.

Can anyone put light on this topic

It is defined according to the manufacturer instructions and consumable specification; usually no more than twice.

Dear sir,

Recommended to follow material data sheet provided by manufacturer.

Above given limit it is user's responsibility to check performance of consumable as to ensure quality.

Life of consumable is normally depends on:
1. Manufacturer.
2. Storage condition.
3. Type of consumable.

Regards,
Maulik
