hey - whats that down the alley?
thats what I was looking for actually - 大森消防団 第1分団 - Ota City Vols - Branch 1
they probably have a tiny pickup truck with 2 portable pumps and some
hose - plus a rescue tool (big breaker bar) - plus 4 UHF portable
radios - I dont think they have SCBA - maybe some do and some dont -
so they would only do exterior firefighting mostly
if they dont have a tiny truck - then they probably have a portable
pump on wheels that they can drag down the street - most streets in
Tokyo seem to be straight and level
not sure who the staffing is - they are "volunteers" but they get a
small salary - maybe retired firefighters and 18yos - I suspect they
are alerted via phone apps and/or sirens - they only get alerted for
typhoons I think - plus earthquakes
nearly all of the volunteer stations are like this - 1 small bay door
plus a room upstairs - upstairs is a training room and a storage room
- I think they have close to 500 of these volunteer stations
throughout Metro Tokyo - to back up the 300 paid stations
Can you imagine if FDNY or LAFD tried to add 500 volunteer stations? -
lol - it would be the end of the world
