tour of fire station - not sure what state (maybe texas or oklahoma
with creeks and ravines and gravel roads) -

if we can clean up this transcript option it will be very powerful -
oligarchs will never allow it though - for example - turtleboy did a
2.5 hour show last night on the Karen Read story - imagine if you
could a transcript that takes 5 minutes to read - vs watching a 2.5
hour video

yo
my name is Matt Gordon captain of the
green shift welcome to Lindsey Fire
Department
right here we've got our lobby this is
open to the public 24 hours a day it's
equipped for with doorbells for the EMS
side and the Fireside we have our Chiefs
office here he's Monday through Friday
eight to five and then obviously if
there's any serious calls he's here uh
super quick and and basically all of our
paperwork goes through this office so
thank you right here we've got our
report room
um at Lindsay fire department we run
every medical call so when we get back
whether it's medical fire motor vehicle
accident whatever it may be our reports
get done here and uh
filed away and then we turn them in on
our clipboard they go to Chief
right here will be our day room
this is kind of
where everybody hangs out all day all
night sometimes
here at our this is our table here that
you know training goes down studying
obviously when we eat together
sits around the table and uh can you
show the favorite personality
anyways after 5 p.m uh you know we could
hang out in our recliners watch TV watch
sporting games whatever it may be um
and then here's our kitchen so it's
pretty basic
and uh you know if you want to cook or
or warm something up or
whatever you want to do this is the room
to do it in so we've got a washer and
dryer back here over here is our
assistant Chief's office
he takes care of
[Music]
all right welcome back so you guys got
to hear our tones go off uh sorry about
the interruption for a medical emergency
there but like I said you just never
know when it's going to happen so back
to our tour this is like I said the uh
assistant Chief's office all of our
paperwork runs through there
certifications EMTs National Registries
all of our you know schoolings for fire
one fire two hazmats everything gets
kept up to date here our CPR renewals
our assistant Chiefs on top of that as
long as us you know we are too but uh he
reminds us say we've got to get those
updated or we've got to enroll in this
class or whatever he takes on that that
role and and make sure the paperwork
side of things gets taken care of
um
there's a list busted up around the
station so Mondays we clean empty the
trash cans scrub scrub everything down
wash the Bays across the street uh
Tuesdays we run all the pumps the fans
the solves the generator we run our
execution tools uh check all the oil
levels and Fuel and every truck and
piece of equipment
we do all this stuff in the morning
every shift but it's a focused day on
Tuesday for sure
Wednesdays we wash every truck
even if we haven't you know ran a fire
the day before the morning of we just
scrub everything down and make sure it's
uh well kept Thursdays we go do all the
yard work outside mow weedy Edge
we take care of a building across the
road as well and uh
just kind of get all that taken care of
and tidied up Friday we check all the
SCBA units make sure all the cylinders
are full batteries are charged we do
this every morning at seven o'clock also
but Fridays we just pay a little bit
extra attention to that because at the
end of the day you know the the air
could save somebody's life
so uh Saturday is a little bit more
low-key we we run our trucks every
morning at seven check our gear make
sure the station's clean and then we can
finish any unfinished projects on
Saturday and Sunday and get ready for
the upcoming week back here we've got
our you know regular laundry room
um these are more maps of of the rural
areas these kind of tell you you know
your County Roads your boundaries we
cover 155 square miles just just our
department Alone
um and then our EMS division they cover
a little bit over 200 square miles we've
got Hydro Maps posted here
um every every firefighter here has a
printout of of hydrant maps and street
maps and and uh you know when you come
on here we we study those so when the
time comes we know what's going on like
I said here's our day room at 5 PM we
can kick our feet up and kind of relax
because you never know what's going to
happen throughout the night so I'll take
you guys upstairs and and you can see
after we wind down kind of where we
sleep
all right so we got two bedrooms
each firefighter has their own bed
and
you know we make our beds every morning
before we leave and uh you know make
sure your area is clean this room is
equipped with a bathroom here and uh
each individual firefighter has their
own their own locker where they can keep
their you know station clothes or uh you
know whatever they need to personal
items in their locker so there's two
bedrooms like I said uh
this is uh another one there's five beds
in here
and you know you kind of this is your
area at night so
this is where we sleep and uh yeah so
out here if you want to follow me this
way
this is our little workout area it's uh
not much but
a lot of our job you know it's physical
and and uh this can we've got a Peloton
a treadmill free weights so this can
kind of keep you in shape a little bit
better
so anyways if you guys want to go check
out the trucks we'll head downstairs
this this Bay here houses five trucks
um
our rescue truck that we run all of our
medical calls in uh usually houses are
extrication equipment a Stokes basket
any kind of rescue or technical rescue
stuff and our life packs stay on that
Trek it's currently in the shop
so right now we're running medical claws
out of our brush unit here
this one goes on all grass fires right
now it's going on medical calls too it
holds 300 gallons of water here so when
we when we get on scene
on a grass fire or whatever it may be if
this truck's called on it can get an
initial knock down
so yeah in this house it's got foam and
and uh you know blower chainsaw all that
on there so this is one of our bigger
trucks right here
it's our 75 foot ladder
and we've had it a few years now and and
it's got uh all kinds of tools on it
from entry tools to spare hoses LDH hose
we cook to hydrant and then obviously we
can charge the ladder and really put out
some serious water so
best trucks um
got MSA packs all over it it goes on
every structure in town and these MSA
packs have a thermal imaging on there so
each firefighter that enters the
structure you know if the Smoke Gets too
heavy
and it's not to the point of having to
get out yet they can look down and kind
of see what's going on
like I said this is one of our main
Intown trucks
a few gallons which can get used pretty
quick so we'll tie into either hydrant
or or a another you know engine of pump
into it so
yeah this this thing's uh
it's cool it's all there for sure I'm
coming around here this is our engine
one as we call it
um
it runs in time structures this truck
doesn't leave the uh
the city limits you know more or less
but
it can pop it it holds a thousand
gallons so
we can pull up on scene and you've got a
little time to you know spray before
you either got to hook up or have
another truck you know pumping into it
so
um as well as the other one it's got uh
MSA air packs
in every seat and it's equipped with
just about everything you need we can
run anything from you know a gas leak to
uh
you know full-on structure fire with
this with this unit
um backing up here this this truck here
is our unit 28.
so this truck runs rural structure fires
um
it holds a thousand gallons as well
and it's got lines coming out on each
side it's got crosslays on top it's got
a booster line which is what our red
line and then you can either nose up to
a fire as long as you're upwind from it
and you can pull the hose straight out
of that bumper and attack the fire it's
got an air pack in every seat as well
and this is an all-wheel drive truck as
you can see it's uh it's made to get in
the down County Roads and in places
maybe these big engines can't get to so
it cool it holds our extrication
equipment so this is kind of our blocker
when we go on a motor vehicle accident
we'll stage this and the lanes and uh
and protect us as long as our EMS and
police officers are Highway Patrol
this is kind of a do-it-all truck it's
got a backup extrication tool
generator
you know hydraulic lines
cribbing units uh you know I'm gonna run
a serious accident it's got all the
tools we need to
to victim out get him help
so moving back here
we used to have another truck that sits
right here but it's currently in the in
the shop getting worked on
um I'll take you into our bunker room
so right here is our bunker room like I
said we uh 37 MSA cylinders they hold a
4500 PSI here which depending on how
heavy you're breathing or whatever
you've usually got air for between you
know 25 and 35-40 minutes
sometimes if you're if you're really out
of breath maybe maybe less but that's
why we've got backups so this is our
Cascade system we can fill up our own
cylinders I'm pretty fortunate to have
that a lot of You Know Places don't so
we're uh
pretty lucky to be able to do that so we
wash our gear and then this is where it
gets dried so
a big drying unit here you can hang your
coats your pants put your boots on there
your gloves whatever and then uh you
know heat it up and dried up
this is an industrial washer unlike our
personal clothes washers in there these
ones you can
include a certain number in and you can
wash your outer liners because it'll
really concentrate on getting the bad
stuff off your shelves and then you can
put a different soap in there and wash
your inner liners which will you know
ultimately touch your skin
a little different soap on there and
then there's different soaps for your
hood and gloves and all that but uh We
Run The Kelly shift here with three
colors so we've got red blue and green
uh green shifts on today so red houses
their stuff here
um while they're off as long as blue and
uh yeah this is kind of each person each
firefighter has their locker and
and we're getting our stuff well we're
not not on duty it's uh
[Music]
volunteers that come in and help us on
the on the big jobs and and some
small jobs too if we have you know more
than one call at a time we are a
full-time Department like I said but uh
those guys they help out too which is
great
so backing out of here uh
we'll go across the street and look at
the rest of the trucks
all right so this is station two uh our
main stations across the road we're
fortunate to have another building to
house you know more trucks down here we
run a lot of rural fires and uh a lot of
grass fires and mutual Lake calls so
these are where we we house the the
extra trucks
this truck right here we just got a
couple years ago
um
it holds 3 500 gallons of water so if
there's no hydrants out of town or if
you know whatever it needs this this
thing can can pump we can run Crossways
off of it
um it's got air packs on it and it holds
a ton of water
so this is the water tank all the way
back and then this is pretty neat
because you can do a water shuttle and
this folds down and puts a a pool out so
this water or this truck I'm sorry can
can detach the pool drop it and then we
can shuttle water to the fire back and
forth
where we can fill up our smaller trucks
so moving on to the next one
um
this truck here it's one of our our
go-getters so when we have a uh a big
big bad grass fire out there this one's
uh one of the main dudes so this is a
initial knockdown truck along with 22
and this thing can
Baja just through about any pasture or
down any Gravel Road and and uh like I
said our main tanker over here has got 3
500 gallons where these are equipped
within you know between 650 and we've
got a few trucks that go all the way up
to 1250 gallons so this is a standard
truck it's been here for a long time and
and uh you know these old trucks right
here are kind of the backbone of this
station so we we maintain them good and
and uh we're proud of them so anyways
walking around here
we uh
this truck's one of our trucks it's a
clip with a spray bar so if we get in a
situation and uh we need we need to
spray water out of the bumper we can be
in the cab and kind of uh put the fire
out as we go
so moving on to this this is our brush
unit 24. uh we just had the the
privilege to put this truck together
last year
um
pretty proud of it uh we got it as a
cabin chassis only and uh we kind of
built it in-house here just to kind of
save on expenses and then get it the way
we need it for for our
the way we run so
it's got
600 gallons or about 550 on it and uh
you know it's it's got a red line where
you can not put so much water out or if
uh you know it's one of the initial
trucks we can use this line here and
throw some serious water down so anyways
we did all the plumbing uh we we put it
all together here in house
so from the bed to the uh to running all
the pumps and everything so we're pretty
pretty proud of this piece and and you
know we like to keep them in good shape
we've got another grass unit here
this is you know again one of the older
trucks but but it still still runs and
and uh I found fire off of it myself so
it's a good one so uh right here when we
go out on a
a big grass fire out of town or whatever
it may be we can set up you know
incident command or if Chief's running
IC or you know if it's a county-wide
deal this truck or this trailer here
sorry uh
carries extra fuel for our pumps so when
they come back to the tanker to get
water we can top them off with fuel it's
got lights a generator
usually you know people around here are
super friendly and they bring some food
out to us on on our long all night fires
and and this will you know light up the
area it's kind of a meeting place so we
built this trailer and house about three
years ago and and uh yeah we've we've
used it
more than we thought we would and it's
coming real handy so right here we've
got a White Tower so like I said when we
set up I see we can haul this out and uh
you know have a little meeting area so
over here we've got extra hoses stored
we come in from a fire we take the hoses
that are dirty wash them we hang them up
to dry and then replace them with the
new
follow me out here
and we'll uh
show you some other stuff
[Music]
right here it's a 40-foot Tower
your fire would pull the trucks in here
we could refill them
[Music]
until they're full and then pull our
hoses off wash them in this area and
then we uh
we hang them up here to dry for a couple
days or however long they need
so we climb that with a
safety harness on of course and then
hang our hoses
yep
going on to our next building here
it's got some uh different kinds of
rescue equipment
so
we're fortunate enough to get uh
a boat and
due to having the river the Lakes
everything you know going on around here
due to water
you can uh we get a call for a water
rescue we've got the capability to
deploy this unit here
and
go make a rescue it's equipped with all
the water water rescue stuff and then uh
you know a big big motor to get up and
down the river even when it's Swift so
anyways and then this year to here
is our Can-Am it holds 70 gallons of
water here on a pump and uh if there's
hot spots or tough to reach areas Creek
bottoms you know whatever it may be kind
of getting down in the Ravine this this
thing can go go after it so anyways but
uh yeah so you've seen the fire station
and see where we live we're here a third
of the Year per shift so we live here
and we're we're all a family and
kind of wanted you guys to to see what
what goes on here so we uh
get a lot of chores done
run quite a few different different
calls whether it be Medicals there's a
lot of highways that run through town
out of town lots of wrecks and uh
yeah run the run the fires so thanks for
joining us and uh
that's Lindsay fire department we're
here if you need us thank you
