superpumper will be based at Eng 260 - no mention of what the staffing
is - the rig carries ?600? gallons of foam concentrate - the
superpumper is intended to primarily be used at the airport tank farms
and at fuel tanker crashes - it can also be used to augment water
supplies at larger bld fires - can probably be used for exterior
attack at highrise fires also - or even to fill the standpipes at a
highrise - will go 10-86 calls (???) and special calls - in service as
of June 1 2023 - the black 8 inch hose comes with the submersible
pumps from Special Ops Command - superpumper 1 has 1,200 feet of
yellow 6 inch hose - fdny does not have ldh on pumpers iirc - just 2.5
inch and 3 inch hose iirc - Foam Tender 1 is now out of service and
Foam Engine 260 will move to E238

video shows setup of pumps and hose - and arrival of fire boat - and
flow from big nozzle

superpumper 1 has 8k gpm nozzle at front - and two 2,000 gpm nozzles
at rear - plus 2 portable blitz guns in a compartment

can the 2k gpm nozzles be taken off the truck and used down an alley
or something?

does fdny still have some 2,000 gpm pumpers? - they could probably do
a half mile relay with the super pumper and two of the 2k gpm pumpers
- if they have enough hose

https://www.fireapparatusmagazine.com/magazine/fdnys-ferrara-pumper-moving-water-and-foam/

this article says there is 2500 feet of ldh - and mentions 1000 gallon
foam tank and 10000 gallon foam tank - not sure which is right -
probably not big enough to be 10.000 gallons of foam on board

can the airport crash trucks respond off the airports? if so - they
can hit any fuel farms or fuel tanker fires

maybe there is a sop available about all of this

this says that all new pumpers in NYC are 2,000 GPM - and that the 5
satellites have 6 inch hose

so it seems to me that the superpumper will have 2 primary uses - a
huge foam attack piece - and a distant water supply piece - and also
just a huge deck gun truck - make that 3 primary uses lol - 3
co-primary uses even

overall - the FDNY pumping capability is approx

3 fireboats at 15K each ish

1 superpumper at 5K gpm plus foam plus ldh plus big gun

5 satellites at 2K each + big gun + ldh

2 trailer pumps at ?5K gpm

250 pumpers at 2K gpm each - no foam - no big gun - no ldh

any cisterns in NYC? maybe central park needs a million gallon cistern
- and a few of the other parks also

more info here - satellites do not have pumps just big gun and ldh -
there is a list of 3 stage and high pressure engines - and info about
4 types of pumpers

to recap the recap - it looks like fdny has - 1 superpumper at 5K gpm
+ 3 boats at 20K gpm + 250 pumpers at 1K gpm or 2K gpm + 2 trailer
pumps + 25 reserve pumps plus more spare pumps

fire fandom might have even more info

there is radio and dispatch and ops info also at that nycfire.net url

question - what would the actual response be to a crash at JFK or
Laguardia ? - would it be 10 engines on the 2nd alarm crash box PLUS 5
engines on a 10-60 (major emergency) box?

we seem to be way off on the fdny fireboats - seems they have 2 or 3
boats with 50,000 gpm capability
