Haverhill Police Chief Robert Pistone said the 18-year-old was at the
Plug Pond Recreational Area with family and was wading in a shallow
area when they suddenly went over a 20-foot drop in the depth of the
pond. It happened at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Police said the 18-year-old, a resident of the town, was wading in the
pond with family when he unexpectedly crossed into much deeper water
