I couldn't find any specific information stating ColumnStore supports data at rest which to me indicates that there is no way to encrypt it. Although I see the file is stored in some kinda data format which is not easily readable but it's definitely doesn't look encrypted.

Do we have any official statement on this?

Hi Manish,

ColumnStore 1.0 does not yet support data at rest encryption for columnstore tables. This is in our backlog of features to look at in upcoming releases.

If you are considering deploying in the cloud, most if not all vendors provide for encrypted storage. For on premise, systems or storage appliances with self-encrypting drives can provide for this until we address the gap.

David.
