add catalog wms : The map coordinate system is not supported by this service

I am learning how to use the configuration of MapStor and was trying to add a WMS layer (WMS is based on MapServer) for testing purposes. I have successfully added the WMS entry in the catalog tab, but when adding one of the layers in the WMS  to the MapStore map I keep getting this error: "The map coordinate system is not supported by this service".
I assumed that I potentially had to either

1.) add to all the map projection (EPSG codes) into the MapStore crs selector (in localConfig.json ) or

2.) remove all additional EPSG codes from the WMS service (except for 3857 and 4326) to make it work for a test map.

Neither option worked so far, I kept getting the same error as above for both options.

My WMS has now only 2 EPSG codes left "epsg:3857 epsg:4326" left (the ones that the map config has by default.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Unfortunately there is a bug in MapStore that impacts the wms you are using. The problem is that the specific WMS is advertising the supported coordinate systems with a lower case syntax (epsg:3857, epsg:4326) while in MapStore we only accept uppercase ones (EPSG:3857). This is why you get that message.

I have opened an issue (https://github.com/geosolutions-it/MapStore2/issues/6502) to track this bug. The solution should be trivial, so I believe it could be fixed soon.

good to know I was puzzled about this.  
It will be great if this will be fixed,
for my case and the time being I can just change the WMS epsg tag to EPSG because I am the publisher ;)

yes, indeed that worked well. I just wanted to confirm for anyone having this problem now or in the near future that I was able to get it to work with my MapServer based WMS service by simply replacing all occurrences of epsg by EPSG in the map file. Also, the Getfeatureinfo WMS request worked perfectly after setting the format in MapStore GUI for the layer to html.

I see that the issue has been closed, that’s great!
I’m testing the Italian cadastral service with their WMS endpoint https://wms.cartografia.agenziaentrate.gov.it/inspire/wms/ows01.php in a fresh installation of MapStore and getting the same result. Apparently the GetCapabilities request is returning the coordinate systems in uppercase form. Do you have any clue?

I had a quick look at the WMS you mentioned.

Unfortunately these are the SRS exposed by the service:

1. <CRS>EPSG:6706</CRS>
2. <CRS>EPSG:4258</CRS>
3. <CRS>EPSG:3044</CRS>
4. <CRS>EPSG:3045</CRS>
5. <CRS>EPSG:3046</CRS>
6. <CRS>EPSG:25832</CRS>
7. <CRS>EPSG:25833</CRS>
8. <CRS>EPSG:25834</CRS>

As you can see  EPSG:3857 (or EPSG:900913) are missing, so the default coordinate system of MapStore maps does not match the ones offered by the service.

Eventually you can try configuring MapStore to use one of those coordinate systems, adding its definition in the localConfig.json projectionDefs section  (https://mapstore.readthedocs.io/en/latest/developer-guide/local-config/#projectiondefs-configuration) and configuring the default map (in new.json) to use it.
