Good news for our e-bike community (mostly)

The federal government have reinstated EN-15194 standard for e-bikes.
In summary it states.
Feature Standard (EN-15194 Compliant)
Max Continuous Motor Power 250 Watts (NSW may have a higher rating)
Power Assistance Type Pedal-assist only (motor only helps when pedaling)
Max Assistance Speed Power must cut out at 25 km/h
Throttle Use Allowed only as a 'walk assist' up to 6 km/h

It will be interesting to see how/when it is implemented by Feds and States!  And what will happen to all the ‘fat wheel’ bikes – are they e-motor bikes?

Oh yes ... definitely a good move but a law is only a "good law" if it can be enforced otherwise it's a waste of time and resources.
