Last days in WA

Hello Everyone

We are presently in Kununurra after spending 6 weeks in Broome and 3 months in the Kimberleys and Pilbara regions

We have decided to come out of our safety bubble and cross the border into NT

Broome was very relaxing and we settled into a daily routine of cycling, walking,swimming ,shopping and boogie boarding.

That is when the beach was not closed to crocodiles being sighted along the beach. Three times in 6 weeks. 

I had the good fortune of having James (James & Liz fellow caravaners) as a cycling buddy.

Rising at 6.30am we met at cable beach roundabout for a circular ride around Broome, Town Beach and Chinatown.

Compulsory coffee at Good Cartell cafe and then around the airport and back to Broome Caravan park. Total 28klms.

Attended the Broome horse races with James and Liz Woodburn, BBQ Barramundi on Cable beach,Staircase to the moon

 and the  Broome Writers Festival.  The Shinju Matsuri Festival started a week before we departed Broome and  is the main multi cultural event of the year. 

It features the floating lantern Matsuri where hundreds of lanterns are floated out to sea. Thousands of people gather for the event followed by beach picnics and 

live music. The journey from Broome to Kununurra was interesting especially our stay at Parry Creek Farm which is near Wyndham

The highlight is the Parry Lagoon Conservation Reserve where dozens of different bird life gather.

 We will be in Darwin from 11September and our itinerary then depends on what happens elsewhere.

Just had an amazing Ord River Cruise from Kununurra to Lake Argyle spillway dam. Lots of crocodiles and bird life with billion plus year old gorges 

creating a unique picture of rugged wilderness and sheer beauty.

What memories your trip is bringing back to us. Allan and I went to the Broome horse races and it was hilarious. Line dancing entertainment, jockeys running after horses that escaped into nearby bushes delaying the races, very unique experience. Very envious of where you are.

I had to  wonder how Jeanette knew to pack a stunning hat for the occasion? Keep enjoying yourselves  and take your time in returning.  We are very much hampered here in Sydney.
