This afternoon I received the following message concerning Bob Chambers who many of you in ManMos will remember.

Bob has myeloma, a form of leukemia, which is advancing rapidly. He has chosen to let nature take its course, and not accept radical medical intervention which might prolong his life by a few months. He will be transferred from hospital to Bowden Brae Nursing Home (9 Jasmine Rd. Normanhurst) this Thursday May 12. The family asks that they be left to visit him in the mornings, while the afternoons are left for other visitors.

Please remember Bob in your prayers – he might be gone within a month.

Thanks Frank
Plenty of good memories of Bob. Yet another cycling engineer. I enjoyed his company on the bike.

Thanks Frank, I enjoyed Bob's company immensely. It was a sad day when
he was forced to give up cycling. Bob and I were sort of kindred
spirits and I wondered frequently how he was going.

Thanks Frank  -- my memory of Bob was when he led a Sunday Bike North ride quite a few years ago. It attracted a large number of riders, I think over 40. When it went through Summer Hill. It was like the Tour De France,

Mike,

Thanks for your message. After I retired in 2007, my neighbour Colin Burns encouraged me to take up cycling again. He suggested that I join Bike North and it was there that I first met Bob Chambers who was active as a ride leader.

Hi Frank,
I remember too the Bike North rides with Bob out the front. He always had a good turn out. I remember too being envious of your trips away with him and the boys.
When I met up with Bob some years past his BN days, I was surprised that he remembered me. A gentle man.

Frank,

I rode with Bob quite a few times back in Bikenorth days and also with ManMos.  Bob is also a senior member of the Catholic Bushwalking Club and still leaves a trail of legendary hikes.  His planning was equally meticulous and I had his excellent advice for things to carry on my Camino Walk.

Bob is and will remain an inspiration.

Cheers.

Thanks for letting us know Frank.
I remember Bob as an enthusiastic cyclist with a yellow bike.  Also full of interesting stories.
Thinking of him and his wife at this time.

Yes, thanks Frank for posting.  I remember Bob (and his beloved Hillbrick bike) for enthusiastically introducing me to gpx files and the benefits on using silicon spray lubricant on the bike.  Also for his and others (including Frank) stories from their epic treks into the Blue Mountains National Park.
