I've been lurking for a while again.  This week I've been watching the discussion over ranked choice voting...and the lack of direction from the party.  I'm just disgusted that we are watching our democracy collapse and we are in a pissing match over verbiage.

I removed myself from the Facebook group because I DARED question the motives of religion in politics and was quickly lambasted by other dems.

Today there was just a vote in the house to condemn socialism.  86 dems voted yes.  What the actual f?

Its time to stop being so scared and fight.  I've seen my party of democrats parade candidates in front of me since I had to choose the lesser of 2 evils in 1992 and it continues to only get worse.  Yes we need to advance a progressive agenda but how is that possible when the other team cheats and we are on our second string quarterback whom we have secured his throwing arm firmly behind their back because the dems as a party can't get their shit together.

I'm 52 years old.  My family has been involved in dem politics my whole life and I'm so disappointed. I've seen better behavior by kindergarten classes.

Why would I vote for the democratic party?  I'm sure ill hear the excuses, but I'm tired of excuses.  I'm tired of the lack of fight.  The old order needs to go and let the Jasmine Crocketts, AOC's and Mamdani's take over and actually fight rather than vote on ridiculous bills that don't further the cause.

Aaron,

I completely understand your feelings about the Democratic Party. They seem at times to be Masters of a circular firing squad! They find causes that will never fly with the rural folks. There is nothing wrong with supporting progressive causes, however if you make this a part of your platform you will lose!

Bill,

Check out the Michigan Dem Party platform (33 pages). There’s oodles of progressive stuff in it. Also, as much bitching as the progressives leveled against Biden and Pelosi, they failed to see the quiet mobilization to promote many of their priorities; now,
Trump is gleeful as he visibly dismantles the gains found under Biden.🤯

Have a great Thanksgiving!
Best,
K:P.

This is why people are disenfranchised with democrats. I honestly hardly consider myself one at this point.  Bring on the Mamdanis, AOCs, and jasmine crickets and let the old democrats get the f out so we aren’t a party so deivided. GET MOWNY OUT IF POLITICS!

Amanda, I agree with you 100%!  We are seeing this right here in Manistee with Rachel Howard for US Senator, Rebecca Amidon’s strong run for Michigan State senator and the candidates for US Rep who were at the Rural Health Care Forum in Manistee this afternoon.  Strong progressive thinkers bringing fresh perspectives to the voters.  None of them are accepting big corporate PAC money and all of them are less than 50 years old!  They need and deserve our support!

  1. I was especially impressed with Rebecca Amidon and Jamie Hill. I found Ben Ambrose basically incomprehensible and Carrizales in between.
  2. The providers, especially Dr. Dionne, helpful.
  3. Good questions. Nice to see Mark Yonkman there to remind us that how we talk makes a difference.
  4. I didn’t know about the MICare proposal.  Most people don’t realize that National Health Care in Canada came from the Provinces. As a retired business person, I can tell you that our business would have welcomed a statewide program with open arms, ss would other small businesses. Businesses would be fighting to come to Michigan.
  5. The brownies were excellent.
