First of Year birds on Monhegan this week:

1 American Kestrel

4 Great Blue Herons

1 male 2 female Wood Ducks

Harlequin Ducks  1 male 2 female (a first ever bird for me)

2 Teal Ducks too far away to tell which kind

2 Phoebes

Many Flickers!

Other sightings:

Winter Wrens have been here for a few weeks

Lots of Song Sparrows

First Kingfisher was April 1st and several since then including 1 today around the dock at boat time.

First Killdeer was March 22, then this week I watched 4 flying over the meadow for 10 minutes.

Red-winged Blackbirds arrived March 9th.

These are all casual sightings while working and walking the dog.
