to Maine birds
I found myself in southern Maine today for the first time in months thanks to my wife having an appointment in Biddeford. I took that chance to head to East Point for a hour or so and found something I definitely did not expect... a Boreal Chickadee by the edge of a tide pool out at the end of the point.
I was able to snap a few lackluster but definitive shots. I also heard the bird vocalize at close range (classic raspy “chick-a-dee-dee-dee”s). The bird flew into cover along the south edge of the point and I was not able to locate it again.
Lots of Northern Gannets flying close to the point and a group of 11 Snow Geese moving through also. It was a good day to happen to be in the area!
