Hi all--
Somehow, September snuck up on me and I'm a day late with this note:
------------------------------
The annual week of Global Shorebird Counts began September 1 and runs to September 7. It's a perfect time of year for us in Maine to get out and count shorebirds and contribute to this important project. All you need to do is share your eBird lists that include shorebirds during this week, wherever you may be and however many (or not) you see, with: worldshorebirdsday.
Sept 6 is World Shorebirds Day! Celebrate in any way you can think of. What better than to go birding, volunteer at a local school, donate to a conservation group, finish that paper you've been meaning to write, or take a friend out with you.
Please note: World Shorebirds Day! and Global Shorebird Counts are entirely volunteer efforts. There's no formal organization behind them, no government support, no executive council telling folks what to do.
Happy shore birding to all!
