FOY belted kingfisher, mourning cloak, ticks

I recently purchased some land in Alna.

When I was there in late January I swore I heard a kingfisher but could not see it anywhere.

On the drive up today I spotted one flying over the water at Nequasset, then heard one on the Sheepscot when I got to Alna (still did not see it!)

Are they year round in Southern Maine at this point?

I was delighted to have a friend in a Mourning Cloak as well.

Sadly, on the drive home, discovered I had brought along two small ticks (at least)...
