Carol Belanger found a HARRIS’S SPARROW at her feeders in Levant yesterday, 6 Dec (https://ebird.org/checklist/S62094663), and saw it again this morning. She is open to having visitors but asks that people contact her via Facebook Messenger (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1526479937628399/permalink/2589223308020718/) to arrange a visit. The birds at her feeders are very skittish and not visible from the road so please coordinate your visits with Carol.

Good birding,

Hi all,

Thanks to the amazing hospitality of Carol Belanger, I and many others enjoyed the Harris’s Sparrow this morning, through at least about 10:00am (I don’t know of any afternoon reports, positive or negative from the pm).

I just wanted to take a moment to reiterate what Doug posted. PLEASE contact Carol via Facebook Messenger and do not show up unannounced. She’s doing an amazing job of organizing the timing of arrivals so that everyone who is invited into her home is enough room to view our the window, so let’s not wear out our welcome. Also, please do not wander around the yard or immediate vicinity as outdoor activity seems to reduce all bird activity at the feeders, even in the backyard.

Terez Fraser, John Lorenc, and I then took the long road home, wandering the countryside with things like hawk-owls on our mind. We did have a few other seasonal and regional highlights, however:
- 1 hen NORTHERN PINTAIL, Sebasticook River in downtown Newport.
- 1 KILLDEER and 12 Horned Larks, River Road, Clinton.
- 1 male and 1 female Barrow’s Goldeneye, Kennebec River from River Road.

Thanks and good luck, and thank you so much Carol!

-Derek
