Despite the mist and rain showers we went to Crowley Island at Jonesport. Quite a difference from a week ago - more warblers including Black-and-white and Parula. The nicest sighting of all was two Willets performing display flights over the bridge to the island. Also from the bridge we viewed 21 Black- bellied Plover, 3 Short-billed Dowitchers and a Ruddy Turnstone.
We came home in steady rain to find a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, a Cape May Warbler and a Yellow-rumped Warbler sharing suet among a dozen Purple Finches and 5 species of sparrows (including White-crowned) devouring seeds on the ground and in feeders.
We also had 58 Black-bellied Plover on Flat Bay and the Common Terns are back. Interestingly, Long-tailed Ducks are still around but the Common Goldeneye skedaddled about 2 weeks ago
