Varied Thrush

I just received a report of a Varied Thrush on Mount Desert Island, in the subdivisions between Town Hill and Hull’s Cove. I believe one had been seen in that general area prior to the latest sighting? Keep eyes open…

Hi all - I just called the Cliffords now and they welcome visitors. They have NOT seen the bird today.

Important: their street address is misleading. Here's what they provided to me:

Set your GPS for 171 Hall Quarry Road, and look for a driveway that is across from 2 mailboxes numbered 8 and 15. Their driveway is named "Sweet Fern Way," but that will not be helpful via GPS.

There is a small pullout on the Hall Quarry Road before you pull into their road. OR, pull into Sweet Fern Way and park on the left when you see a big house with solar panels (their home). Again, they are OK with visitors but have not seen the bird yet today. They say they first spotted the bird perched on a pole in a patch of sweet ferns behind (?) their home. I asked if they have fruit trees on the property and they indicated they did not. So the bird may have been passing through. Good luck all.

Bob Clifford will call me if he spots the bird again, and I'll post any updates to the listserv.

I searched with no luck down Quarry Hill Rd. & feeders where seen. Thank you to the Clifford's who were gracious enough to let me stalk their feeders. And thanks Bob Duchesne who got the info out while I was driving up there.
