I checked out the feeders this morning at Capisic Pond Park near Lucas Street entrance to see if I could spot the Black-Headed Grosbeak but had no luck. So, I walked down to the footbridge and ran into two birders, one of whom had seen the Grosbeak a few minutes earlier on the other side of the pond from just beyond the footbridge. But, it was there only briefly. Watched for a while, checked out the feeders up the hill, and headed over to where the Redwing was hanging out. I got a quick look at the Redwing when the Grosbeak flew into a tree just behind the brush where the Redwing was. Fortunately, another birder noticed it and I was able to get a good look at the Grosbeak. It did not stay long though and flew off.
After that, got a couple good views of the Redwing in the brambles and a Dicksissel sitting on a tree further south on the trail.
Also, had a Red-tailed Hawk on the western side of the pond. It was sitting in a tree, flew off after something and came back to the same tree empty-handed.
Not a bad day at the pond! :-)
