This morning there were lots of ducks at Martin's Point. Highlights included two Pintails and one N. Shoveler. Many Hooded and Common Mergansers. A smaller number of Scaup, mostly Greater and some Buffleheads. Way out in the middle of the lake were four unexpected Long Tailed Ducks. I was also happy to see four Rusty Blackbirds feeding on the beach at the south end of the pond. Danny Danforth

Sabattus Pond had a good variety and number of birds this morning. I counted roughly  600 Ruddy Ducks and 200 Common Mergansers. There were smaller numbers of Bufflehead, and Scaup (both species, more Greater than Lesser). In addition, there were a modest flock of Canada Geese, 2 Pintail, 4 American Wigeon, 1 Long Tailed Duck, 1 Red Breasted Merganser, and several Green Winged Teal, plus the usual Mallards and Black Ducks. Finally, I also saw a first year Iceland Gull and a Bonaparte's Gull, a Rusty Blackbird, a Red Necked Grebe, and an immature Bald Eagle soaring over the rafts of ducks.
