adult loons on Kennebec River and ocean at the end of July

I meant to write in earlier about this, but...

Saturday morning July 27 we had a loon in beautiful adult plumage on the Kennebec River in Hallowell.

Saturday evening July 27 we had a loon in beautiful adult plumage seen from the Hardy Boat on our way out to Eastern Egg Rock.

Seemed early to me for them to be off the lakes, but perhaps those of you who are on the water more often can weigh in.

There were two flying at Lily Bay, Moosehead Lake last week.
