issue with new install of machinekit not booting

im fairly new to BBB and machinekit and im having a problem with getting my Beagle Bone wireless to boot properly.

I can use a number of other images to get ghe card to boot but when i start the machinekit image it only allows me to type in a login and password then goes to a black screen with a mouse pointer on it.

Alternatively i have tried to connect to it via usb but it does not show up as a network devise or usb device.

Also i see the wifi of the board and try to log on and go to the ip address that has worked in other versions with no luck

192.168.6.2
192.168.8.1

And a few others

If there is something that i am missing please give me a hand.

I could not get the machinekit image to work for me either. I went back and followed the directions located at
https://machinekoder.com/machinekit-debian-stretch-beaglebone-black/

This process worked for me. I fought the machinekit image for 2 days before giving up and going through the entire process step by step. Even then I had issues getting the examples to run. It is working now.
