> Since I am new to this Google Groups stuff &  Linux based hardware here is a little bit of information about myself so people know that I i'm not a short bus I've been building computers & Networks plus tons of other electronic fields for 30 years 15 years ago I used to code windows software & also it's been 15 years since I left Linux  I've used dsl,Ubuntu,Slackware, deb, mint, backtrack,Kali,Red Hat, etc I know that I am out of date when it comes to using Linux  I have also been doing CNC Plasma cutting for the past 6 years 5 of them years the place I worked for their table used CandCNC hardware with Mach 3 which I love a lot.. I got to the point after 6 months I did all the maintenance & repairs for their table after 5 years I quit. Last year as I was looking to buy a table I am way to inpatient to browse & order & wait for all parts to arrive to build my own so I found a new table I liked so i contacted JD Squared a year ago was told the 4x4 table I bought will run mach 3 if i dislike their table software was told their hardware they make in house well none of it was true My hardware is machinekit
>
Machinekit is a software which can run on variety of hardware. I seem to recallDevin Hughes posting somewhere that they use the FPGA+ARM code combo, you canget more info about the software side under machinekit/MKSOCFPGA on GitHub.

> with all the dlls etc. Well I hate their limited software I believe it's GUI pulled over linuxcnc or EMC2 but my reasoning for being here is the controllers etc have spiffy boxes built around them to cover the PCB board with there logo on it like they in housed them.
>
Maybe they did, maybe they did not. It's hard to tell one way or another just from the table. However, for retrofit to Mach3, chances are nearing certainty that you will not be capable of reusing this hardware.

>
> I would like to know if anyone can tell me the easiest & best way to identify which hardware I have in my control box. I've asked them to many times to get the same bs answer so I took 7zip and extracted their madgui3-3.1.3-full.nupkg to find out the Pc has windows 10 Pro with their interrupter MAD GUI V3  that connects using V-host to the linux distro Deb.

They are probably using the QtQuickVCP framework. Try looking at the machinekit/qtquickvcp repository on GitHub

> Then not having the users name nor pass to deb is there a way of changing it or do I have to redo it in order to have the password Id rather use ubuntu but with my luck i am stuck like chuck swimming in the water drowning unlike a duck..
>
What did you try to log into the linux machine?

> I have been reading bits here and there about Hal & the way this hardware works. Once this is figured out mad gui will be trashed because personally it's limited on what you can do. I will move to linuxcnc or find something close to mach 3 any information directing me in the right direction would be so appreciate. Thanks for your time..;)

Even if you hate the MAD UI, be aware that this is kind of time hole. Estimated 6 weeks projects easily turn into 12 months.

You need to click on the "reply all" button to post to this list. Otherwise it will send the e-mail only to the person you are replying to and not to the machi...@googlegroups.com <mailto:machi...@googlegroups.com>, from where the mail-list server will fan it out to every list subscriber. (It's spam protection thing.)

You can, just not with parts of the current electronics setup. By the looks from the JD2 website, they use the all-in-one BLDC servos with STEP/DIR inputs. That should be easy enough to interface to MACH3. I have no idea about what they use for THC.

> as far as in maybe they did or didn't tell me they didn't because good luck on getting an answer without it being incorrect or they don't contact back. I've only talked to them 4 times a laser replacement, an to ask about the actual controller brand which is why I've never contacted them back for any further questions or issues I've found a few bugs they have not addressed they say stuff is coming soon and 6 months later still nothing. The big thing about Mad Gui V3 is linuxcnc does tons upon tons of stuff that Mach 3 does but he took tons of it out. I will live with the facts it's Linux based but not using mad. If I can figure out what hardware I have I will fdisk the PC  hard drive and recreate the partition or let grub do it all an start getting back into Linux I know for sure I am quite able to download Linux sources codes &  > repositories>  adding or remove stuff I might not need then compile a little bit of time it all will come back to me from long ago I'd rather use Ubuntu but it is what it is.
>
You can use pretty much whatever you want with Machinekit and LinuxCNC both. It may just not be a turn-key solution. However, it still should not be that problematic to use Ubuntu. (I have never tried it.)

> I know machine kit is software I've seen all the dependencies in the mad directly I also am sure the controller in the cabinet is a begalbone or begal
>
Maybe, Beaglebone Black is popular hardware SBC for use with Machinekit. Problem is, without detailed photos only people deeply familiar with JD2 offerings would be able to tell.

> something that's was my actual question was help identifying which one it's only a matter of time I just get fed up and once my warranty is up the hardware will go bye bye and what I replace it will will be known and not lied too. Linux has came a long way since I've gotten out of it. In 30 years I've never asked for help but I've  giving help nonstop I get fed lies so I will buy their brand Devin isn't tech support at jd2 it's fred
>
I don't know any of them. Just what I read on the project pages.

> which knows his stuff the rest of them will remain in the grey area not being mentioned. I figured having the table a year and I've fixed every problem myself finding out what brand controller I have from there I will handle the rest if no one is able to help I will year the control box apart and take the shields off the boards and find out myself just to much business work atm figure if someone knew heck yeah. Thanks for the reply with ideas about what it might be. :)

Sure, Machinekit does not suit everybody. There are plenty to choose from. Just don't be offended if people on Machinekit forum are not inclined to bashing Machinekit.
