Black Hill 2023 - Team Bike Doctor/Cycle for Life

In light of the recent discussions about MABRA racing in 2023....

After 10+ years of organizing and promoting Black Hill Circuit Race, our team board has decided that the Black Hill Regional Park has become too dangerous and unpredictable to host a circuit race. Real estate development in the Clarksburg area has created an influx of traffic patterns at the park leading to overcrowding and potentially life threatening situations. There were several near misses with vehicles and bike racers/pedestrians during races and warmups.  We are fortunate that there were no collisions at speed. 

Since 2019, Team Bike Doctor has operated as Cycle for Life as a 501c3. Our mission is to promote the development, promotion and active participation in bicycle-related activities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

As such, we are eager to continue the tradition of our team hosting awesome events that fulfill this mission. Our board is currently working towards creating more fun, inclusive, low-cost entry points for potential bike racers to get engaged, have fun and become bike racers! We are open to partnering so  if you have concepts but lack movement, reach out! 

Our race committee and team board is focused on bringing MABRA something else for 2023. We'll be back in touch as plans develop/get more concrete.

Black Hills was my first introduction to MABRA racing, and my first race after a bad collarbone break. It was a great way to come back and get started racing here. I've truly enjoyed it each time I've ridden it. While I'm completely bummed it's coming to an end, I also totally understand the reasoning. Huge kudos to Patrick and Bike Doctor for their terrific work putting this event over the years... looking forward to the next event!
