Zoom is one of the few good things about the pandemic. I've attended several soaring (and other types) events meetings that I could not have attended because they were hundreds or thousands of miles from me, and recording the event is effortless, allowing it to be seen by others later or reviewed by the attendees.
Thanks again for doing this, Paul, especially since the
convention is postponed.

Thanks, Paul, I'll be there. I'm glad you put in UTC, because I'm better with that than time zones 😅

Hi Soaring Friends,
Just a quick reminder that the HAWK Zoom meeting will be tomorrow, Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 10 AM U.S. Central Time (16 UTC). I have upgraded my Zoom account to allow up to 1000 guests. The meeting will be recorded and made available to view any time on my Patreon site at: https://www.patreon.com/cumulussoaring. It should be available within 24 hours after the meeting. I hope you can join the fun. It promises to be a very interesting presentation and discussion.
There is no need to pre-register - just join the meeting before or during the event.

my ASH 25 M is a self launcher with a Wankel engine which runs smoother than other motors. I never had any problems taking off with HAWK enabled. In some cases pilots have reported problems which are due to overload of acceleration sensors.
In this case restarting HAWK after engine shut down is necessary. Hawk works after less than 30 seconds.
in the future an algorithm will detect engine shut down and automatically restart HAWK.
iI hope this answers your questions .
best regards
heinrich
Would be quite annoying if the entire LX9000 has to be restarted because
HAWK is acting up... Or is there a way to just restart HAWK? If not
there certainly should be.
Presumably HAWK can be re-started simply by unchecking then checking the "HAWK/Enabled" box on the Vario Parameters page(?)

"While in cruise mode, I use the speed to fly graphic on the V8 vario. Will that still be available with Hawk running and displayed. Can I display Hawk winds on the 9070 instead?"
Bif, have a look at section 6.3.2 of the version 9 manual for the 8/9000 series. You can get little arrows and numbers for the instantaneous and average winds surrounding the plane icon on the main flying screens. These will be HAWK winds if it is activated. I have added that function to my profile file thinking that I might only switch the V8 to the winds screen if a big display of winds feels critical at the time.
