I use Skysight to monitor forecast conditions and plan flights. The app allows for designing a task, then uploading it in one of several formats. I can save the task as a .cup file, but can’t get the task into my LX9070 using WiFi.

I have reviewed chapter 5.7 in the 9.x (Rev 45) manual carefully and don’t see an answer.

I have been trying to upload the task .cup file to the LXConnect/Points folder in my Google Drive and have verified that I am using the same Drive credentials. I can see other files (waypoints, TFRs, etc.), but I can’t Load / Activate the task from the 9070.

Has anyone else found a way to do this?

Thank you,

Marc Arnold (Boulder area)

Hi Marc,

I've been using the SeeYou.Cloud to make waypoint files available in my LX9000.  It works great.  After I load my waypoint and task file into the SeeYou.Cloud, and connect my LX9000 to the internet through my iPhone, I go to Setup, Files, Waypoints and scroll way down to the bottom of the list.  There I see the files in the SeeYou.Cloud.  I load the desired file into the memory of the LX9000 and it asks if I want to sync it.  I select yes.  When I update the file in the SeeYou.Cloud with a new task, it appears in the LX9000.  The last step is to go to the Task edit screen in the LX9000 and select Load.  Then select the file from the active waypoint and task file.

Best Regards,

For a while there was an option on the DOWNLOAD pulldown in Skysight called PUBLISH to LX 90XX.  That worked great for me but that specific option went away a few weeks ago.  I can still get my TASK.cup file where it belongs in the LX9070 by a pretty simple process:

From the SkySight DOWNLOAD pulldown, I select .CUP TASK (OUDIE/LX).  I'm offered where to put the file.  I choose to put it in DROPBOX:APPS:LXNAV_Connect:points.  When there's already a so named file in that folder, I choose REPLACE.  Later, upon turning on my LXNav, I make sure that it's getting WiFi through my phone's HotSpot and the file TASK.cup is then transferred to the LxNav automatically.  You'd think that it should work the same using your Google Drive instead of Dropbox.

This present ability to create tasks in SkySight and send them over to the LX is quite a great feature.

Not only does it appear there is a way to get the task over, it appears there are THREE methods that work:

Steve via Dropbox

Paul via SeeYou

Morgan via WeGlide

…now I have plenty of new ideas to try.

Thanks, everyone.

#4 would be Google Drive if you really want to have options.

The Publish to LX9000 feature was not meant to be missing. I have added it back now.

The way I do it is, on SkySight:
1) Draw a task
2) Download -> Publish to LX9000

On the LX, first time only:
1) Settings -> Files and Transfer -> Waypoints and Tasks
2) Enable SkySight Tasks

On the LX:
1) Task page -> Load
2) Click the SkySight.cup task.

Previously I understand there was a bug that the SkySight Tasks needed to be unselected, deleted, and reselected as per the first time only steps on each task change, but I am told but have not verified that this has been fixed.

You can also do it via Dropbox/Google Drive/WeGlide. I should probably add an option to open it in SeeYou too.

Thank you, Matthew. I see the option on SkySight now and will try this solution soon.

Thanks Matthew for addressing this quickly.
This is a good use case example why it is important to contact the manufacture/developers when encountering issues. They all publish their contact info for that purpose, and many of them encourage doing so. But with few exceptions such as Matthew, they don’t monitor discussion groups and RAS, so they only aware of issues and suggestions when they are brought to them. This is not like reporting a bug to Microsoft or Apple, they actually listen and respond (well most of them). Of course always have the courtesy to read the manual first. Over the years I exchanged hundreds if not thousands of emails with soaring product manufactures. Sure some of them get annoyed, but countless issues were fixed and enhanced. This is especially true for LXnav Which is the subject of this forum. Don’t be shy!

On my PC today, I tried to download a SS task using the ".CUP Task (Oudie/LX)" path and nothing happened (no query popped up for where to place the file).  This has always worked before but not today.  Anyone else having this issue?

I tried Chrome and Edge browsers (both with skysight.io in the pop-ups allowed sites list).  I also tried to send a report via the SS support function but couldn't satisfy the captcha gatekeeper to submit it (click on squares until no cars appear - fail, click on all squares with a bus - fail, click on any square with a motorcycle - fail, ...).  I think it was f'ing with me, but still, it makes me question my humanity.
