I have found Office Depot and Staples to be pretty good for most of these items.

James.

Hi. Check Staples for memory sticks and possibly cables. I feel like I've seen a number of these things over there. I hope you find what you need.

hi ginny.

thanks.  checked yesterday.. staples  lowes  best buy, Walmart, etc..

this place needs a better walk in operation.  a frys!!!

but there's not the mrkt to support it.

only a few online I'd trust.  3rd party operators are too hit and miss.

thanks!

For the drive issue have you tried putting the drive into an external 2.5” USB enclosure or temporary dock? What is the model number of the old drive you need the data from (in case we have an empty enclosure for the right style laying around)? Staples and OfficeMax/OfficeDepot often have the SATA drive drop in docks or the M.2 enclosures, with either USB3 or USBC connections, where you can try them on some other machine booted off a live CD or usb key. OfficeMax was better about keeping Startech or Plugable stuff in stock last I saw. I see a Plugable brand SATA dock for 2.5 or 3.5” drives and both USBC and USB3 cables in stock for under $50 on Shelbyville road if that’s the type of drive you have. Says it’s Linux compatible if you’re going the liveCD route or whatnot.

hey Sean.

thanks for reply.  I've got an insignia for 2.5 and the larger drive, so I can hit the drive, but getting it out is a pain.  and since I'll have the laptops to move to, ie setup new process, figured someone skilled might want to work through the project.

I am having an issue finding cheap/good 2.5 hdd usb drives.  the prices are higher than when I last did a purchase years ago!  1tb.

thanks

bruce
