Hey guys! I was at the brunch today and got to tour the space, with the help of Kevin, (thanks) very neat space! I was wondering if anyone is planning a training on the ShopBot soon? Or how I would go about requesting training on it? I have some (slight-ish) experience with the laser, and a thunder laser at a different maker space. I have also been doing a deep dive with the vcarve software to learn some basics!

I am not a member yet; as I just today visited the space for the first time, but I plan to work towards and become a member!

 There is a growing group of Shopbotsters at LVL1. As it rarely happens I am jammed next week BUT there are others that probably could do something. One member has an excellent two session Shopbot 101 at LVL1 program. 

It all starts with a drawing that is created in VCarve Pro or can be imported into it, usually an .svg or .DFX. Try drawing a 5X7 rectangle, set a name and date in text centered in the rectangle. If you're comfortable with it, try creating a toolpath. Vcarve tutorials are free and at least the beginners are highly recommended. Bring the drawing with you?

I could do something NEXT Saturday the 15th.

I am trying to save my toolpath but I am getting this message. Does lvl 1 have the makerspace version of Vcarve? Or should I be trying to save a different way?

Yes, Lvl1 has the Makerspace edition. No, you're doing all you can. Sounds like you're ready for session 1, where you shadow a more experienced member run the job and how to do that.

I found the tutorials on the Shopbot website most helpful and if you haven't already done so, it's worth the time to do a couple of the beginner ones.
