G'day:
I might also be good if - at least for the time being - people could ask their Lucee coding questions on StackOverflow, and their Lucee server questions on ServerFault. Obviously cross-ref them back to hear so people know to answer the questions, but it'll help get Lucee exposure there too.

Might be an opportunity to post some self-answered questions on ServerFault about switching from Railo to Lucee, upgrading, etc.

Indeed, that's not a bad idea. I asked one question on Stack Overflow I already knew the answer to, just so as to create the [Lucee] tag. I haven't have opportunity to ask any other questions, as I'm not really pushing the envelope with it.

And I only use the Express version, and it just runs, so haven't needed to ask any other ServerFault-esque sort of questions.

However I think there have been quite a lot of questions answered here, which might be worth logging there too. I don't think the Stack Exchange Law Givers would consider that to be "gaming" it (not that they'd ever find out, I should think).

From what I’ve read on MetaStack, self-answered questions are welcome, even encouraged, as long as they are legitimate and not repeat questions like “How do I insert content into a div with jQuery?” that have been answered a million times and are typical posts by people looking to game the rankings.

Hi Adam,

Posted to ServerFault and created a post on the Lucee Google Group. My post hasn't appeared on the Google Group yet though. I'm not sure how long it takes to appear (I would assume pretty much straight away) or whether I haven't been "approved" to post here yet?

Side Note: Thank you for your contributions to our community - it will be a sad day the day when and if you decide to really leave the CFML/Lucee community.

Also, there is not currently a tag for Lucee on ServerFault and I don't have the reputation to create it.

I don't have the requisite points on ServerFault either!

But for others' reference, this is the question:

And that is why SO, etc., all suck ass. If I don't like someone else's answer, I can ignore it. If someone else doesn't like mine, I expect them to do the same. Telling me that I can't ask and/or answer a question because I've not "scored enough points" is a non-starter for me. All those stupid ass rules did was take forums - which are horrid enough on their own - and make them even worse.

I'm 20 points short of being able to create the tag, so if anyone wants
to vote for any two of my answers, I'll go ahead and do it...

Well someone's done that, but it looks like the 300 doesn't actually
get a tag created - just allows putting it in the fecking review queue.

Can't supply the description for the tag until that edit gets approved,
though once it has been then any registered user can propose tag edits
(which again get put into the review queue for approval). Takes 5k
on-site rep to approve those proposals and 20k not to need approval.

~sigh~

Not arse, HoplessN00b, well "Moderator" HopelessN00b apparently...

Sigh, one step forward, two steps back.

At least the answer was a good one.

I've blogged about it so that I can save a copy of the answer if it just gets deleted of ServerFault.

So, do I attempt to "rewrite" my question in the hope it might get through or just try again with something more specific?

I thought you shot me down for suggesting this a couple of weeks back!

Adam never misses an opportunity to crush someone’s brilliant idea, man, you know that!

Doesn’t mean he’s unwilling to shift perspectives on the topic a few weeks later… ;)

I hardly "shot you down", Mark: I just disagreed with you. Stop being such a diva.

Also, I try not to set my opinions in stone, and try not to be black and white about things. I don't think using S/O as the mechanism for answering Lucee questions, based on the lack of traction it got in the larger, better establish Railo community before. This is why I advised posting the questions there and here. However someone's gotta do something about getting the word about Lucee out there more. And the Lucee bods don't seem to be doing it, so I'm just racking my brains trying to come up with ideas. S/O is an easy (if not earthshattering) win.

See? Not black and white. Multi-layered as fuck, me.

It's great for people who like making and following rules though.

Well it does violate their rules in the way described. Plus they gave advice how to fix it. This is pretty good from a Stack Overlord.

Thanks Andrew,

Was due to updating to the Preview release of Mura 6.2. Mura uses cfformprotect to help stop spam in forms and I had Accept Comments switched on and the config file for this was corrupted in the upgrade. Bit of an effort in troubleshooting it this morning. The guys at Mura were good though.

No need to be insulting Adam. I am not being a diva. To quote:

On Monday, 2 February 2015 15:59:54 UTC, Mark Drew wrote:
One thing that I would suggest (and I am sure Adam Cameron will back me up so watch out!) is that any coding questions should be sent over to Stack Exchange

Actually no. There's hardly any people who use even Railo participating on Stack Overflow. When ppl there ask Railo-specific questions, I directed them to the Railo Google Group. I'll be doing the same for Lucee.

That was me suggesting to post to Stack Exchange and you saying Actually No. Now you saying we should do it (and to also post here of course)
Now you are saying exactly what I was saying (ok, replace Exchange for Overflow and ServerFault):

Fine to reverse and change opinions. No need to be insulting.
