Lucee 4.5 - RSS output to SharePoint 2010/2013

I write this as it might help someone in the future.

We faced issues parsing an RSS-feeds generated from Lucee in SharePoint 2010.

We used the default RSS Web part and received “The requested RSS feed could not be displayed. Please verify the settings and url for this feed. If this problem persists, please contact your administrator.”

It ended up being solved by disabling Lucee's built in gzipping mechanism.

Anyone else experiencing issue with Lucee's gzipping?

Is it best practice to run it turned on or off? I think its on by default...

Please share your thoughts.

out of interest does the sharepoint request include an "Accept-Encoding: gzip" header?
