Is there a reason why no IIS installer exists as it does with Adobe CF?

Why is it necessary to modify config files to run a website under the wwwroot necessary when this should be part of the job of the installer ?

Will there ever be a useful installer or will Lucee forever be plagued with the Boncode Installer ?

Simple solution: Pay the license fees and stick with ACF.

It would be nice if there were a way to publicly vote for fixes/enhancements and pledge some level of funding to the effort, where you only make the donation once the request is approved & scheduled.

I would like to see the engine create more optimized Java code, but without providing a significant chunk of money to LAS, I don't expect

Sorry, got a call in the middle of typing. I don’t expect my request to receive any kind of attention unless/until someone who wants to see it implemented provides the funding to make it so.

And as Nando said, you can always pay the license fee for ACF.

Doesn't the current installer do that?

No it does not. Only paths inside the webapp root of Tomcat run without manual edits to the server.xml file.

Of course I can pay for licensing but that isn't the point and Nando  thanks for the unimaginative sarcasm.

An installer that removes the complexity of manually configuring proxies and paths which is in the spirit of CF.

Rob, I understand and agree that it is a matter of priority but I would think that this would be a higher priority. I understand that first and foremost comes performance and stability but the installer would promote a wider adoption of the product.

Can you confirm what installer you're using? Railo express perhaps?

Sup Frustated
So I went off to AWS, and started up a Windows server 2012 R2, I then went to the lucee site and downloaded the installer.
I then installed IIS (no scripting or file editing so far)
I then run the installer, clicked next for the most part, apart from when it wanted me to do the password, and after a few minutes of watching a progress bar I got the welcome screen without any of the images.

There was an c:\inetpub\wwwroot\index.cfm file there that was being served, and when I changed the contents it worked.

So... I didn't change anything.... nor edit any xml files.

The attached images etc weren't in the webroot so that makes sense that they were not being displayed.

Maybe describing
a) What you want to achieve (single host, multi host etc)
b) What you did (download express, download installer)
c) What you actually saw

Will bring you more help than you got so far. And not alienate people that are kindly trying to help you .

Kind regards

Mark Drew

As an aside
If people are just trying to give Lucee a shot to test it you don't need IIS at all, you have some good choices:
a) Download Lucee Express and just run it  (if you are on windows you do need to install Java, and set a JAVA_HOME path, which I admit is problematic and we have discussed fixing this)
b) install commandBox (which is awesome) https://www.ortussolutions.com/products/commandbox and simply do "box start" in any folder with your code in it. Pretty awesome.

Hope that helps and have a good weekend

I would echo Mark's comments.
An installer exists and works.
We will need to understand the steps you have actually taken and the condition of the platform you are installing on.
For example, most of the time machines with previous installations of ACF prove to be problematic since they do not cleanly uninstall.

I did install Lucee on a WIN2012 Server 2012 R2 production box 3 weeks ago with WIN-Installer just like Mark mentioned above. Worked wonderfully!!! No problems with Java, no problems with Tomcat, no problems with Connectors, no problems with some .Net-Updates, no problems at all. Just clicked through installation, finished and voilá! Really great work!
