Dear all,
Do you know which *Mat can be used for gun powder?
Do you have any input file for it? or relater similar paper?
Is it doable by Ls-Dyna?
Kind regards

The most appropriate equation of state for modeling gun powder is

*EOS_PROPELLANT_DEFLAGRATION

When I searched www.dynalook.com for the words “gun powder” there were 10 references listed. I did not examine the content of those manuscripts.

Thank you for you information.
I checked all 10 studies. None of them modeled any propellants.
The Name of *EOS_PROPELLANT_DEFLAGRATION seems proper but I need more information to simulate propulsion energy which is accelerating a mass of body rapidly.

Perhaps search the literature more generally.

Obviously, someone use that EOS at some point.               --len

Dear Mass,

Perhaps this presentation might offer a start.

In this manuscript the ignition and growth of the reaction in high explosives

equation-of-state was introduced along with model parameters for COMP-B.

Some comments were included concerning alternative versions of these model

parameters that are available in the literature. The manuscript focused on the

experimental data of Almond and Murray [2006], their simulations results, the

simulation results of Urtiew et al. [2006] and the present results which make

use of the relatively new LS-DYNA Multi-Material Arbitrary Eulerian Lagrange

(MMALE) capability which thus serve as a post-test form of model validation:
