Hi All,

I've spent a chunk of time trying to find suitable enclosures for sensible pricing and I'm resigned to the fact that the best on offer seems to be the Future Automation stuff. Question is where are people getting these from?

Anybody have a recommendation for alternatives that have built in cable management or are people just putting their own cable management into distribution panels?

Thanks, Ian

Hi Ian

I have a dealer account with FA so can source any of their cabinets for you. Let me now what you want and I can get you a quote.

For what it's worth, I haven't found any alternatives that work as well as the FA cabinets.

Cheers

Rob

Hi Ian,

We can supply you any FA panels you need if you choose that route.

Generally we build in Schneider or Eldon steel enclosures with a sheet steel back plate. These give us much more flexibility with the same volume and can accommodate power supplies and UPS units within the same enclosure.

I dont currently have FA on the shop but could add if you wanted.

Thanks

Martyn

We have IDE Atlantic cabinets...

... which I found to be good quality at a good price. We got them from lelectricien.net here in France but they seem to be available all over Europe.

I did one project with future automation enclosure. Quality was excellent but I found they are rather large.

On the next project I decided to use a smaller box, one on each floor actually. I used the Hager Vega VB418P, they are plastic but have good earth and cable management is ok. I liked the way pipe can be routed into the housing.
The front door is see through, and I like the way you can see the Loxone components at work!

As far as I'm aware plastic enclosures are not allowed in the UK as they don't comply with 18th edition regs.

I have looked at the IDE ones previously and the seemed ok too but now we have left the EU, trying to import even the most basic things is a nightmare, even assuming you can get the supplier to ship it to the UK as many of them don't want the hassle with all the customs paperwork.

The FA cabinets are indeed very good and I've used quite a few.

I have tried a few things over the years, one on the first was Schneider Pragma enclosures which are very well made with endless options.

The difficulty these days is in the uk domestically, the regs require these types if enclosures are required to be fire rated, which ultimately means metallic.

FA panels are ok and fit the ‘easy’ criteria quite well, they do custom panels too so flush/semi flush can be achieved too.

Overall these days I much prefer building from scratch in sheet steel enclosures, with designing from scratch for a particular installation cable segregation can be better achieved in respect of legal requirements and core voltage ratings etc

Not seen the IDE panels, there are a few european options which look good candidates but they all seem to lack depth for larger equipment, compromises and add ons I guess.

Future Automation panels comply nicely with the current regulations, as long as you separate your wiring correctly or use tri-rated cabling.
Like some other one here, I'm also able to sell their products. They do offer a custom fabrication service, but this does attract an additional fee to cover the costs of designing.
