Could you make any comments on this proposal before I circulate it to the committee? I'm also planning to ask SHPF if they will fund this.
The club subsidise and underwrite a first aid course, aimed at paraglider pilots.
* In the central belt, probably a weekend in Oct/Nov 2024.
Probably at Ratho.
* Two day course leading to an NGB recognised certificate and for outdoor enthusiasts, e.g. BHPA tandem pilots, BMC.
Probably run by BASP:
https://www.basp.org.uk/first-aid-training-courses/outdoor-emergency-first-aid/* Min 6 participants, max 12. (Minimum essential to run scenarios)
Poll on telegram identified 5 people immediately.
* I propose we charge £50 for LLSC/SHPF members.
If space allows we charge £100 for other BHPA members.
If we have space we allow anyone else to fill the spaces at a cost of £120.
[Note, the open courses by BSAP are charged at £160, but £50 is to ensure proper commitment]
Budget
1. course cost for BASP: £1015
2. travel expenses for BASP: approx £300
3. room booking: approx £300
4. income from participants: -£600 (assume we fill with LLSC/SHPF)
Club subsidy: £1000.
Club maximum exposure £1600 - assuming its an amazing flyable day and the course can't actually run because nobody shows up except BASP!
If approved, the following actions
1. Book Ratho
2. Book BASP
3. Event page on the LLSC website.
4. Advertise to SHPF and LLSC (get paid commitment)
5. Advertise in Skywings, etc.
