Hi Lioness Lab people,

I was wondering if anyone has ever implemented a Lioness experiment using Bilendi/ respondi's panel before. We have received a guide for implementing redirects (screen out links and quality fail links) via URL parameters and are not sure how to do this with Lioness.

I have seen this suggestion https://groups.google.com/g/lioness-lab/c/5RJdreK5t8o/m/shYfrVZ7CQAJ and tested an ID parameter that is indeed stored as externalID. However, can we add a redirect URL parameter to this, e.g., return_tic=#p_001#, and how can we connect all this to a stage such as a quiz stage when subjects failed the quiz? One quick idea was that adding a program to the continue button could work, but I am out of my depth with these URL parameters...

You can find the experiment in the repository CTEG_WB_norms_deutsch

Would be very grateful for your suggestions!

Best,
Katharina

Hi Katharina,

You could try to store the redirect URL in the tic parameter. If you separate that from the other parameters with some combination of characters (say ‘____’ or ‘0000’) you can fetch the tic parameter in the quiz stage using getValue. If you save that in a JS variable, you can use the standard JS function ‘split()’ to parse it, and save the redirect URL in a separate JS variable. In your redirect you can then use that variable to point to the webpage of your choice.

Hope this helps!

Lucas

Hi Katharina,

I am also planning to recruit participants for my lioness lab experiment with bilendi. However, I am somewhat reluctant since I also incorporate a chat tht requires substantial collaboration. Since you also used a chat, I am very much interested your experience with it? Did this went well or were there any problems?

Cheers
Maren

Hi Maren,

Indeed, we started the project with Bilendi and they were very cooperative. Also, they mentioned that they had successfully conducted a number of interactive experiments. However, to be honest, the sample was not at all suitable for our type of study. We experienced huge drop out rates, lack of attention and understanding in our setting (German sample). The chats did not work that well either. We tried to enquire the reasons for this with Bilendi's project manager, but could not link it to technical issues or the use of devices (mobile vs. computer). So after collecting approx. a third of the sample, we decided to cancel the project and move it to MTurk. This was very unfortunate and Bilendi was super cooperative throughout the whole process.

I hope this helps you. Good luck with your project! And let me know if you have any further questions.

Best,
Katharina

Hi Katharina,

thank you for sharing your experience. I also decided not to let bilendi do the sampling and move to the lab this time. However, the next time I will definitely switch to prolific or MTurk.

Best
Maren
