Dear all,

Is there a way to save text input variables when the stage is left automatically after a timeout?

I want to implement a version of the matrix task. The goal would be that subjects solve as many matrices as they can in a given time, i.e., subjects provide "text input". In the next stage, they are supposed to review their input and compare it to the correct solution. Ideally, after 4 minutes or so, the stage is left, and everything that subjects have written so far is saved as variables. However, it seems that text input variables are only saved upon clicking a "continue" button and not when the stage is left automatically.

I saved my task in the repository as "Matrix Task (Simon)"

Any insights are much appreciated!

Best regards,
Simon

Hi Simon,

you can call the setValue function with javascript on different events (e.g. if text is changed).

Hi Simon,

I posted the simple example in the repository ("automatic_save"). Have a nice evening.

Best,
K.

Hi!

I have the same problem. I have a slider task and the timeout is 120 second, but i want the varaibles to save even though they dont have tome to click "continue". I could not find the "automatic_save" in the repository. Is it still there?

Dear Kajsa,

if you want to, you can check how I solved the problem in my experiment “Competitiveness and Framing (revised).”— I made it “Public"I got some help of a friend, who is a software developer. The relevant screen is stage 12 – “Numbers Task I”. Subject typed their solutions into a text box and the input was immediately saved. On the next screen (stage   14 – “Solution I”) the subjects could see their input from the task (stage 12).

Best regards,
Simon

Hey Simon,

Is this still available for public view?
I would need a way to save some text input immediately once people typed it in.

Cheers,
Thomas
