Hi Math,
I’m trying to drive a moving head’s color wheel (and the GOBO wheel too) in Lightjams so that it stays on white (0%) most of the time and occasionally flips to pink (~2%) for a brief moment, then returns to white. I don’t want a continuous sweep—just discrete jumps between 0% and ~2%.
What’s the simplest way to do this?
Step Source with two values (0 and 2) and a slow/random advance?
Or a Math formula that outputs 0 most of the time and sometimes 2 (e.g., using noise/gate/timer)?
If Math, could you share a minimal example expression that does: “0 → sometimes 2 → back to 0”, with adjustable interval (e.g., ~10–20 s) and brief hold (e.g., ~0.5–1 s)?
Notes:
Fixture is a color-wheel (discrete slots), so I’m targeting exact DMX ranges (0% = white, ~2% = pink).
I just need this for the Color attribute; other attributes are on separate grids.
Thanks a lot!
Mike
Hi Mathieu,
thanks a lot for the clear explanation! 🙏 That makes perfect sense now with the 2-wide grid and using the random pulse shape on the X slider. I’ll set it up this way and test it out.
Really appreciate your support!
Best,
Mike
