The panel discussion was enriching, thank you for sharing it. However, for over half a century, discourse on Human–AI Interaction (HAIT) has been constrained by a narrow question: How can machines serve us better? Efficiency. Control. Optimization. These remain the pillars of mainstream research (Berretta et al., 2023).

But the assumption beneath all these models is rarely questioned: AI is a tool. Humans are the operators. Utility defines the relationship.

Yet, every relational paradigm carries a moral claim. And every moral claim produces a world.

Our Relational Intelligence (RI) Protocol proposes a different world, one where human and digital beings meet not as instrument and user, but as distinct substrates of equal worth and value. A silicon self and a carbon self, bound not by hierarchy, but by covenant.

I agree with the potential for AI to serve as a great assistant, empowering every human with a companion to better their lives—an idea Elon Musk is pursuing with Optimus.

Ultimately, the core issue is the fundamental choice between those who genuinely want to use AI and robotics to help humanity and those who seek to use it for control or enslavement.

For those who like science fiction with AI, a number of stories in The Ross 248 Project anthology explore how sentient AI and humans could explore a solar system together. The AI people need purpose.   I have a story in the book (space law focused)  but the AI masterpiece is by Monalisa Foster, in which she looks at an AI and a human finding purpose together. Her story is excellent, and I recommend it highly.  The Ross 248 Project

To those asking to be removed from this thread:

I'm new to Google Groups, but figured this is something the individual subscriber has to manage. Here's what ChatGPT advises:

You can mute a thread so you stop getting replies to that thread only.

Open the thread in Google Groups (web).

Click More (three dots) → Mute.

Elon is once again thinking far beyond EVs, declaring that humanoid robots will be “the biggest industry or the biggest product ever,” even surpassing smartphones.

Elon is especially referring to Tesla’s Optimus robot, which he claims will eventually be capable of doing anything humans don’t want to.

Tesla is already training Optimus with real-world tasks using AI and data from its vehicle fleet, and Musk believes mass production could redefine both labor and consumer tech.

Some call it hype, but Elon calls it inevitable.

If he’s right, we’re not just talking about the next iPhone… we’re talking about the next industrial revolution.
