Dear all,

In Sardinia (a large Mediterranean island), Egyptian vultures have always been rare passage migrants. There has never been any historical record of a breeding population. However, in the last 4 years, a breeding pair has established itself in the NW of the island, certainly benefitting from the many conservation actions implemented for the large griffon vulture population there.

This is indeed very cheerful and encouraging news.
Egyptian Vulture conservation over the past 10 years is solid evidence that vulture recovery is possible when the right science supports serious conservation actions.

Congratulations to everyone involved.

Hi José,

thank you very much for sharing this great news!

We wish EV would establish in the central Apennines, too!

Best.
