Hi folks,
I am forwarding this to our various groups to have representation at this design forum collaboration. See below.

Hi folks,
AIA sent this to CSG and to Deb Salls of RVG-SS, but I think they really meant to contact the full SNG coalition, so I'm passing this on. Short summary - they're putting together a roundtable discussion on pandemic-related street changes and which should continue post-COVID. I've cc'd Dylan here, too.

This looks like a good opportunity, but I don't know that CSG has the experience. (We definitely have the opinions, of course.) I suspect there are others in the larger group who would contribute more.

Contact Dylan if you want more info. All I know is what's in the email!

best,
Brie

Hello Neighborhood Greenways!

I am with the AIA Urban Design Forum (UDF), a group associated with the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects who are focused on discussing and disseminating information regarding regional urban design and urban policy issues. We had a wonderful collaboration with Neighborhood Greenways last fall, as Phyllis Porter joined the jury for the Region of Short Distances competition we held last year.

We have another event in the works on COVID urbanism on March 24, discussing measures  that have been taken to enhance community resilience during the pandemic (Stay Healthy Streets, Stay Healthy Blocks, sidewalk and street cafes/closures, etc) and how many of these measures should continue beyond the pandemic.

We would like to format the event as round table discussion. We currently have several representatives interested from SDOT (likely Alyse Nelson and Susan McLaughlin) and would very much like to have a representative or 2 from Neighborhood Greenways. Might there be interest in participation among your group? We are also reaching out to a local business that has implemented some of these strategies to round out perspectives.

I had just responded to the call for action regarding facilitating Stay Healthy Blocks and know that your group lead (and continues to lead) the charge regarding the Stay Healthy Streets, so you insight would be enlightening, particularly in the context of a discussion with SDOT representatives.

Would a representative or 2 from Seattle Neighborhood Greenways be interested in participating?  (We are reaching out to Rainier Valley NG - as we collaborated with you, Deb last fall! - and Central NG, but please forward on to any other groups that have been in involved in shaping the city's pandemic response infrastructure)

Thanks for your time!

Several north end neighborhood groups have been dealing with issues/limitations with the current Stay Healthy Blocks program. A few of our neighbors were clever enough to set up a website where each of us could collaborate on the wording of a letter/petition to the city into SDOT/DON. That letter has now been finalized and can be found at

Please add that into your deliberations on how to improve the SHB program.

Thank you
