I have been thinking lately about transitions. I used to think of transitions as merely something to be "got through." Now, they seem an important component of productivity and even happiness.
Our everyday routines are full of transitions--between sleep and wakefulness, work and meals, work and play, etc. The more chores I do during transitions, the more I accomplish overall. So the longer transitions take, the more productive they can become. Less detritus accumulates on my to-do list.
Transitions also have a vital role to play in large projects such as Leo. As I think back on the sabbatical, I see that its main benefit was a transition away from stale programming chores. I put many issues on hold. Many issues will never get done.
Freed from these chores, I continued to work on Leo with renewed enthusiasm and energy.
Now Leo faces another transition--the transition to vs-code. I have begun this transition by making vs-code look and act just as I want. This personal transition will likely take a week or two. Adapting leoInteg and Leo to each other may take years. That's fine with me.
