Overriding options in init-file?

Is there a way to override options in the init-file that can't be turned off with command-line options?

In case it helps come up with a solution, 90% of the time I want all commodities to be converted to US dollars in my reports, but sometimes I don't. I'm getting tired of typing -X $ on nearly every command (and inevitably forgetting and having to re-run the command), but I can't see any way to include this option in my .ledgerrc without making it impossible to not have all commodities converted, since there's no documented -X all or something to that effect.

If you are typing ledger comes frequently, it is time to start making your own shell scripts
