Hello everyone, I was just looking at my old google groups and this popped up, and I wanted to say hello!

Hope everyone is doing well, I'm at Penn, in various new roles, currently at Wharton in their Student Life division, living in Fishtown, and enjoying what remains of the summer, hopeful things continue to improve for everyone!

Sending the best to each of you!
Aman

Aman!

So kind to ping us and check in. Glad you’re up to so much! Love fishtown, or did, it’s been 6 years since I’ve been back to Philly!

I’m in Oakland these days helping lead some internal consulting efforts for a large HMO. I’m enjoying the rare few months of non Smokey air out here, finding new hot springs to soak in, and backpacking when able.

Same sentiment as Aman, hope all of you are well!

With Gratitude,

Adam

So good to hear from you, Aman (and hi Adam)!

I love that you're still making Penn life better!  I'm also in the San Francisco Bay Area, working at a law firm for the last six years (wow), and just celebrated my first daughter's first birthday (wow again!). I have on at least one occasion been out of Philly for work, next time I'll be sure to drop a line. Thanks for bubbling this group up; it was such a good group to work with and a good reminder that we should stay in touch!

Hugs,
Kelly

Kelly, Adam,
We're in the same neck of the woods!

Hi everyone, and thanks again Aman (miss you and our trivia nights!).  I'm out in SF and have an almost 3 year old daughter (Clara) and almost 6 month old son (Vincent)!  Please drop me a line if you're in SF (and Kelly/Adam - happy to hang out/catch up some time too!).  I'm investing in and building renewable energy projects across the country... but I miss education and started getting involved in The Guardsmen recently (nonprofit in the Bay Area that raises money for at-risk kids for scholarships to school and sponsorships to go to camp over the summer).  Would love to hear what others are up to and I'm really looking for some way to help improve public education so would love any ideas!
Best,
Joe

Hi team!

Wonderful to hear these life updates. My husband and I have been in Indianapolis for just shy of a year now. We miss Philly, but he loves his job as an orthopedic trauma surgeon with Indiana University’s health system, so we plan to make Indy our home for a while. We recently adopted a shepherd pup and bought a beautiful old Tudor house in one of our favorite neighborhoods, both of which have been keeping us happily busy through the pandemic.

After Penn, I started working in philanthropy with a focus on education and other social policy issues. I was heading up M. Night Shyamalan’s family foundation in Philly until just recently. I found a fantastic Philly-based successor to take over for me, and I’m now on the hunt for my next role.

Thrilled that you all are doing well. Thank you so much for kicking off this reconnection, Aman!

Danielle

I'm really loving all of these updates! Congratulations to everyone on such amazing life moments, babies and weddings, and new hustles!

Joe, I don't know many education-focused organizations in the Bay Area, but if I hear of anything, I'll surely let you know. My cousin, who we lost last year to random gun violence last year, was really involved in SF specifically around youth empowerment, especially in the LGBT community as well as in transit systems -  anyway, in his honor there are some ways to give to really good causes he believed in, if you're curious, please find them here. Absolutely no pressure, but figured I'd mention it because he loved SF so much.

Sounds like a SF reunion is in order at some point, I'll surely let you know when I'm there. Danielle, I'll actually be in Indy at some point soon as two of my closest friends just moved there this year (being from Ohio, Indy is kind of a destination city actually! I'll definitely introduce you to them too if you're looking to meet some wonderful folks).

Love hearing from you all! Stay safe out there!
Aman

So great to hear from everyone -- thanks for reconnecting us Aman!  It's fun to think that our paths crossed so briefly at Penn and have diverged so much across the country.

I'm living in NYC teaching 11th grade US History at a charter school in Harlem.  This'll be my 9th year; I've been at the same school since Penn!  Let me know if any of you are ever in NY and want to grab coffee or a drink!

Hi everyone,
Great to hear from all of you. Really love all of your updates. Just saw the messages since I haven't checked my gmail for a while.

Currently I am working at Bytedance, focusing on user-growth for Douyin/ TikTok.  Previously, I've been working in the Edtech sector these years at Chinese tech companies, mostly  living between Beijing and Shenzhen.  I've seen the Edtech industry growing at a crazy pace these years and getting a huge crackdown from the government policies this summer  (you may more or less hear of it).  Many of the products/services that my team worked on are shutting down, which is a big sigh. It doesn't affect myself that much though and just switched my focused projects.

For life, I've moved quite often these years mostly in Asia, and still sort of stayed unsettled, which is intense but exciting. Hopefully I can get back to visit Philly sometime soon. Can't believe that I haven't been back to Philly since 2015 (wow). Drop me a line if you ever visit Beijing.

Love hearing you all! Stay in touch, everyone.

stay safe,

Rebecca

So happy to hear Rebecca and Ashley!! Thanks for the updates! Glad to hear you're doing well!

I would be remiss for not putting this out there, but I'm on the job search - looking for program management jobs, ed tech, tech generally or non-profit would be great, pretty much an organization that does meaningful work at scale! I've been looking here and there for a while, but not committed to the search as much as I know I should be by asking my network! So I'm putting it out there to see if any of you might know of any organizations or companies looking. I feel my skills are most aligned with internal program management and people culture type roles! Also hoping for a role that has at least some remote abilities, but also open to moving!

Happy to talk more if anyone has any leads, or just to catch up generally! Text/call me - 419-787-1215.

Take care all, I dont know about you, but I am so enjoying the cooler temperatures!
Aman
